Wendy Smith - Washington County Anti-Trafficking Advocates
Wendy was kind enough to share her extensive knowledge on human trafficking. She provided basic information on what human trafficking is; the general age for trafficking victims 14 to 16 y/o (though some victims may be younger or older); explained traffickers; described how the trafficker may lure the vulnerable individual. She described warning signs of how a victim may act around others; discussed the role of the internet - to include sextortion and how one may talk to teens about this topic. In the past, Wendy has had presentations with the Dodge Co Sheriff, Washington Co Sheriff , Hartford PD and federal agents. She has also gone to Washington DC in her fight against human trafficking. She provided multiple handouts and information for continued learning at the end of her presentation.
We are grateful she was able to speak to us on February 20, 2024

On May 21, 1904, Marshal Leonard Scherger responded to three suspicious men at the railroad depot. The men fired upon Marshal Scherger, fatally wounding him. He has not been forgotten. Yearly, the Hartford Police department officers continue to visit the grave site honoring Marshal Schreger who died in the line of duty. It had been noted the tombstone was in need of repair.
Pam Watkins was instrumental in finding the right company to assist in the project.
BLAST CRAFT in Slinger came to the rescue fortifying the tombstone, which enables Marshal Scherger and the site to be honored for his service for many years to come

K-9 Fundraiser at Maxwell Street Day
Wednesday, July 11, 2018
Photo of Drug Detection K-9 Officer Cash
Special Thanks to all the Volunteers, Sponsors and those that Supported our Fundraising efforts at Maxwell St. Days!
People have asked why are we raising money for the K-9 Program.
Initially it was for Continued Training, Vet Bills, Grooming and Dog Food
for our current K-9 Officer, Cash. But Cash turned 8 in April of 2018,
so we are looking toward the future and that means a new dog will
need to be purchased and trained to be a K-9 Officer.
With that in mind, our goal is $25,000
If you would like to donate, please send a check to the Hartford Police Department, care of Administrative Assistant Moratz.
